The Centre for Asylum Seekers, Refugees and Detainees (CARAD)

CARAD is a not-for-profit organisation enabling refugees and people seeking asylum to live with dignity. We provide essential needs, advocacy and welfare support services to people seeking humanitarian protection in Western Australia. CARAD envisions a welcoming Australia where refugees and people seeking asylum can rebuild their lives and are treated with compassion and respect.

CARAD Services

CARAD is an independent, community-based organisation providing specialised welfare and advocacy assistance to asylum seekers, refugees and detainees in Western Australia.

Since opening its doors in 2000, CARAD has provided support to over 5,000 refugees, people seeking asylum and detainees fleeing persecution looking for safety in WA through our Client Services and Volunteer Programs.

April Appeal: Compassion in action

In the lead-up to the upcoming federal election, uncertainty has increased among clients at CARAD – some of the most vulnerable members of our community. Refugees and people seeking asylum face enormous challenges in Australia, including limited income support, barriers to healthcare, housing instability, and trauma.

CARAD couldn’t provide vital support to clients without the financial support from community members like you. Even the smallest donations can have significant impact and all gifts of $2 and above are tax-deductible.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to CARAD for the invaluable support they provided during my time of need. The foodbank and accommodation assistance made a significant difference in my life. I’d like to acknowledge the entire team for their incredible dedication and compassion. Their kindness and commitment truly stood out and I am eternally grateful for their help. Thank you for making a positive impact in my journey.
